Each Day

Each day you choose who you will be. Each day you choose who you will become. How often do you hear people blaming others for their stupidity? It’s always someone else’s fault. There is no self-responsibility, no internal examination. People want to point the finger, people want to tear others down. It makes insecure people feel good about themselves, at least temporarily. I’m not interested in that life. I used to be that person. The person who was always tearing others down, in order to build my insecure self up. I am sure I have been guilty more often than not of pointing my finger at someone and trying to put the blame on them as well. But today, I am learning to live my life not focused on what everyone else is or isn’t doing, but focusing on what I am doing and need to do. I am learning, each day is an opportunity to grow. An opportunity to get better. I don’t need to blame others. How about I look in the mirror and find out what’s wrong with me, before I try to find out what’s wrong with someone else? I control who I am, who I will become. Why waste energy on that which I have no control over? Live. Listen. Learn. Love. Each and everyday.

One Step

One step. And then, another. And another. And another. One step in the right direction today. Day after day after day. That’s what it takes to get where you want to go. To accomplish great things, impossible things, lasting things, we need endurance. The majority of us, like to have what we want, right now, with no effort, no work, no waiting. Just give it to us, RIGHT NOW. Our culture promotes this lifestyle, glamorizes this lifestyle, but reality is quite different. Reality usually gives us something drastically different, packaged in the form of hard, laborious, and difficult. Why? Because the fact of the matter is, life isn’t easy. Good things, great things, impossible things, lasting things, valuable things, don’t come easy. That which is worthwhile, doesn’t come easy. Change in life, isn’t easy. Reaching/accomplishing your goals in life, isn’t easy. What we are taught in our society, what is modeled within our society, promoted, and sold, is a far cry from the true reality of life more often than not. We need to embrace the hard life, the hard way. We need to embrace the fact that we grow in the grind and the grit of life. We learn so much about ourselves within the grind and the grit. Focus on one step. One step today. One step at a time. One step in the right direction day after day after day. No matter how hard it gets, just simply keep stepping in the direction you know you are to step.

Build

It is interesting how we live in a culture that wants everything, RIGHT NOW. There is no waiting, no patience, no discipline to deny the instant gratification that tugs at us so hard. Most people just give in, it’s a lot easier to do so. And we see the ramifications of the RIGHT NOW attitude all around us. Overweight adults, overweight youth, large increases in preventable disease, broken families due to divorce and children being born out of wedlock, increases in gun violence, the list goes on and on. It’s sick and pathetic. Great things, powerful things, lasting things, take time to create, to build. They take hard work, discipline, focus, drive, and passion. If you look no further then the house or building you are currently in, there was a process to building this structure, it took time. A plan was created, the foundation was laid, so on and so forth. Building something meaningful, impactful, and again, lasting, doesn’t and won’t happen over-night. You have to be willing to endure, suffer even. You have to be able to block out the noise, the doubters, the naysayers, the negativity that wants to destroy. You have to build no matter what, whatever it takes. In the end, the product, the outcome, the results, will be worth the toil and the labor.
